This is a key Health and Safety course that explains what Risk Assessments are and the process to perform them. It is ideal for anyone with health and safety, HR, and/or line management responsibilities.

Employers have a legal duty to assess the risks to the health and safety of their employees or to any other persons not in their employment who may be affected by the workplace or workplace activities.

The law states that a risk assessment must be ‘suitable and sufficient’, i.e. it should show that:

• a proper check was made
• identify who might be affected
• deal with all the obvious significant risks, taking into account the number of people who could be involved
• the precautions are reasonable, and the remaining risk is low
• involve staff or their representatives in the process

Risk Assessments are integral to almost all H&S in the workplace, and knowing how to undertake a risk assessment is key to ensuring risks are eliminated or controlled.

• Demonstrate the 5 step process
