  • Do you want to involve your service users, staff, or volunteers in decision making?
  • Do you want to tap into lived experience to improve your services?
  • Do you want to plan your community engagement ideas alongside experienced practitioners?

This session is…

An interactive workshop designed to help you explore frameworks for planning engagement and apply them to your work. We will look at approaches to ensure that engagement activities meet the National Standards for Community Engagement, and build on this using Service Design approaches to help us navigate more complex cases.

This session isn’t…

A presentation of the basic concepts of community engagement, or a case for engaging with your community. It is not a lecture-style session, and you will be required to participate.

In the context of this session, “community engagement” is used to refer to opportunities to involve those with lived experience in decision making, to inform our activities and services. The lived experience can be that of existing service users, staff, volunteers, or the wider community. This session is not about awareness raising or increasing attendance at events.

What to prepare

To participate in this session, please come prepared with some ideas or examples of where you are looking to carry out engagement in your work.
