Glasgow Community Climate Action Network: Climate Misinformation Event

Free

5 November 2026 - 10:00 - 13:30

The Social Hub, 15 Candleriggs Square, Glasgow, G1 1TQ, UK

The session will run until 12pm and then lunch will be provided, with an opportunity to connect informally with friends and colleagues until 1:30pm

The next Glasgow Community Climate Action Network event will focus on climate misinformation and how to address it.

In the age of social media and AI, and with the rise of populist narratives, misinformation is one of the biggest emerging risks to social programmes in our city. It targets disadvantaged people, divides communities and can undermine climate action in a time when it’s never been more important for communities to be united.

During the session and discussions, we’ll have input from:

Dr Llouis De Nadal – an academic whose research specialism is resistance to net zero policies and the influence of misinformation.

The Ferret  – an investigative journalism co-operative that run Scotland-wide. They focus on corruption, environmental harm, political influence, and human rights abuses.

The Third Sector Human Rights and Equalities (THRE) Project – a national programme promoting a ‘human rights and equalities first’ approach in the sector.

Climate Outreach – a national charity researching climate communication and the public’s views on environmental issues.

This is a Glasgow Climate Action Hub event – GCVS is a lead partner in the Hub, supporting voluntary or community organisations based in or delivering in Glasgow.
