Treasurer / Bookkeeper (Volunteer Trustee)

Support women. Support older people. Make a difference.

Common Thread Vision (CTV) is a Glasgow-based charity supporting older adults in Pollokshields – particularly women – to reduce loneliness and social isolation, maintain independence, and improve their health and wellbeing.

We are looking for a Trustee Treasurer to join our friendly Board of Trustees and help oversee the charity’s finances.

The Role

As Treasurer, you will work with the Chair, fellow Trustees and our accountant to help ensure the charity’s finances are well managed and financially sustainable.

Responsibilities include:

• Oversee the charity’s finances and financial planning.
• Present clear financial updates at Board meetings.
• Help prepare and monitor the annual budget.
• Review income and expenditure with the Chair and Trustees.
• Liaise with the accountant regarding the annual accounts and Independent Examination.
• Support funding applications by providing financial information where required.
• Help the Board make informed financial decisions.
• Attend approximately 8 Board meetings each year (a mixture of in-person and online meetings).

We’re Looking for Someone Who Is:

• Organised and comfortable working with numbers.
• A good communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.
• Supportive of women, older people and community wellbeing.
• Committed to helping a local charity grow and thrive.

Essential:

• Experience of maintaining financial records and bookkeeping.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet software) and confidence in maintaining financial spreadsheets and records.
• Ability to prepare and maintain income and expenditure records, budgets and simple financial reports.

Desirable:

• Experience of using Xero accounting software.
• A finance, bookkeeping or accountancy qualification (or currently working towards one) would be an advantage, but is not essential.
• Previous experience as a Treasurer or Trustee would be welcomed but is not essential, as support and induction will be provided.
