Make a Difference in Your Community
Are you passionate about supporting older women and creating meaningful change in Glasgow?
Common Thread Vision (CTV) is looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of our growing community-based charity in Pollokshields.
About Us
Common Thread Vision supports older women, particularly women from ethnic minority communities, to improve their health and wellbeing, reduce loneliness and social isolation, maintain independence and build stronger community connections.
Our work aims to:
- Reduce loneliness and social isolation.
- Improve health and wellbeing.
- Encourage independence and confidence.
- Promote social connection and community participation.
- Provide opportunities for learning, creativity and personal development.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, ages, abilities, skills and experiences. We are committed to developing a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities we serve.
Previous trustee experience is not required. Training, guidance and support will be provided.
We are particularly interested in people who can bring useful skills, experience or knowledge to the Board and who are committed to supporting our members and the charity’s development.
We understand that caring responsibilities, work commitments or other circumstances can sometimes make volunteering difficult. Please let us know if you require support with your involvement.
The Role of a Trustee
As a Trustee, you will:
- Attend approximately 6 – 8 Board meetings per year, around two hours each, held in person and/or online.
- Help guide the strategic direction of the charity.
- Ensure the charity operates in line with its charitable purposes and values.
- Act in the best interests of the charity and its members.
- Support good governance and responsible decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with fellow Trustees to achieve the charity’s objectives.
Location & Flexibility
This is a flexible volunteering role. Much of the Trustee work can be carried out from home, with Board meetings held in person and/or online. We aim to be flexible around Trustees’ availability and other commitments.
Why Join Us?
As a Trustee, you will have the opportunity to:
- Help improve the lives of older women in Glasgow.
- Support a welcoming and inclusive community organisation.
- Gain experience in charity governance and leadership.
- Develop new skills and knowledge.
- Meet new people and contribute to meaningful community work.
- Make a lasting difference to your local community.
