Glasgow Wellbeing Fund supports 193 projects in Year 4
5th March 2025
£1.78M of funding will be awarded to 193 organisations across Glasgow to support adults and their wellbeing.
The Glasgow Wellbeing Fund, resourced by the Scottish Government, has been managed by GCVS since 2021. Now in its fourth round, the latest application window closed in October, with 355 community groups and voluntary organisations applying for a total investment of £3,118,792 for new and established projects.
The fund highlights the vital role that communities play in supporting wellbeing of our fellow citizens. This year, demand has increased by a further 8%, and the quality of applications continues to be high, meaning an increasing number of promising projects that, sadly, cannot be funded.
Highlights of the latest Wellbeing Fund
- 193 organisations awarded grants totalling £1,786,980
- 355 organisations applied seeking investment over £3.1M
- 98% of projects will help to reduce social isolation and loneliness, 72% will help to address poverty and inequality
179 successful applicants have incomes under £1 million, supporting grassroots organisations to address local needs and the diverse challenges of communities throughout the city.
Who applied to this round?
Our city’s rich cultural diversity is evidenced by groups applying from different cultures, such as Kurdish, Latino, South Asian, Chinese, Polish, African, and Albanian communities. Many groups and organisations plan to offer creative activities such as painting, singing, dancing, drumming, while others focus on quieter opportunities such as sharing a meal and receiving individual support. All utilise the power of connection; to self, to others, to their community.
The broad mix of projects will also mean support and connection is offered to people of all ages, young and old, intergenerational groups and family projects.
Funding community projects across Glasgow
We look forward to supporting projects in the year ahead and getting to know more about them as they develop. Our monitoring is underway for year 3 and we will be sharing news of activities throughout the year.
For those who were unsuccessful, our Sector Development team offers support to help them move forward.
“These projects provide support to promote joy, ease pain, help people cope day-to-day, and encourage people to try something new and achieve an ambition. Amazing things are happening in increasingly challenging circumstances for the community and the projects. From £1,500 to £10,500, a lot can be done. It’s such a privilege to be involved, and we look forward to showcasing some of these projects and their impact on our communities.“

How will this funding make a difference?
Menself+ told us:
“The Glasgow Wellbeing Fund enables us to offer activities that improve people’s mental and physical health and tackles all types of poverty, trauma, isolation and loneliness issues by developing their social capital and levels of resilience. It provide opportunities to promote peer support and positive thinking, and the smiles on people’s faces and the banter during the sessions is clear evidence that they value these activities…”

“This funding will enable us to maintain our support to our community by offering services that promote social interaction and provide food and warmth during the day and at night to accommodate people’s lifestyles and circumstances.
Having the funds to continue to deliver weekly Men’s Groups, Ladies Groups, 5-a-side football and Yoga, will be vital to our community as there is an ever-looming fear that there will be another major crisis and the inevitable cuts on community services will see them diminish or disappear.”
Me, Myself and I told us:
“MM&I is thrilled to receive £10,500 from the GCVS Wellbeing Fund for our ‘Inclusive Harmony’ project. This initiative will nurture a safe, supportive environment for Asian women to connect, share experiences, and build emotional resilience. Through mindfulness activities like meditation, dance, and games, participants will learn to manage stress while fostering physical mobility and overall health.
Inclusive Harmony combats isolation by creating a sense of belonging and encouraging meaningful relationships. It empowers women, particularly those who have faced displacement and uncertainty, to engage socially, explore their surroundings, and enhance their mental well-being.”

“Additionally, the project offers opportunities to learn about women’s rights and digital inclusion, equipping participants with skills, knowledge, and confidence. These events provide a platform for personal growth, making participants feel valued and included.”
