Vacancy: Southside Central Area Partnership Representative

There is currently a vacancy for a third sector rep on the Southside Central Area Partnership. Glasgow Third Sector Interface Network and Voluntary Sector Voice are looking for someone to fill this role. It’s a great opportunity for the third sector to provide feedback and engage the local community in the community planning process.

Area Partnerships

Area Partnerships meet quarterly and to review and influence progress made towards implementing the strategic priorities of the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership. They provide a chance to develop and implement neighbourhood action plans that respond to local needs and opportunities and offer the opportunity to contribute to consultations and discussions on future plans for the area.

The Area Partnerships comprise of elected members from GCC, community residents, representatives from the Scottish Police Service, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the Third Sector.

What’s involved in being the Area Partnership representative?

Becoming a representative is a great opportunity for anyone who is passionate about the third sector and the community in Southside Central. The third sector representatives will play a vital role in ensuring that the views of the third sector are heard within community planning processes locally, and on influencing decisions that will impact on the area and third sector organisations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To attend Area Partnership meetings
  • To read and examine papers in advance of the meeting
  • To be fully briefed and prepared to speak on behalf of, and represent, the interests and views of members of Voluntary Sector Voice (VSV) and third sector organisations in that area at meetings
  • To obtain the views of VSN members and feed back as agreed
  • To maintain links and communication with Voluntary Sector Voice

It should be noted that representatives are expected to represent the views of the VSN’s members and the broader third sector, not those of their own organisation or their own personal views. Support will be given by Voluntary Sector Voice and Glasgow TSI Network.

If you’re interested in finding out more or are interested in becoming a rep for Southside Central please email ania.neisser@glasgowthirdsectorinterfacenetwork.scot. We’ll be looking to find nominations for a representative and a substitute to attend Southside Central Area Partnerships meetings in the future.
