New Free E-learning Launched by THRE
31st January 2025
Two new free-to-access e-learning resources have been launched by THRE – Third Sector Human Rights and Equalities for Scotland’s third sector. The nationwide THRE project provides training, resources, and support to organisations nationwide, led by GCVS, in partnership with HTSI and EVOC.

Two new e-learning resources:
Human Rights and Equalities First Approach:
The Basics is based on our popular in-person Zoom training. Using real life examples and interactive learning the course helps learners build an understanding of what is meant by human rights and equalities. It introduces key concepts and ideas, and shows how they can bring these into their everyday work and place them at the centre of what their organisation does and how they do it. The course is modular so learners can complete it at their own pace, with an estimated 1-2 hours needed to finish the whole course.
PANEL Principles:
Human Rights and Equalities in Practice is a new interactive toolkit that supports learners to use the PANEL principles to apply a Human Rights and Equalities First Approach in their work and their organisational decision making. It was developed by THRE with permission from the Scottish Human Rights Commission and is based on their original guidance.
These new resources have been developed with charity e-learning specialists Little Man Project and are hosted on the TSI Learning Portal.

THRE Project Manager Aer Nicholson Clasby said:
“We’re really proud of these new resources that provide free access to high quality e-learning for Scotland’s Third Sector.
“Putting human rights and equalities at the heart of who you are as an organisation and making it part of how you work is good for service users, staff and all aspects of who you are as an organisation.
“We hope organisations across Scotland’s Third Sector will consider making our Basics course part of their core staff training or induction and that they will use our new PANEL tool to help them take a Human Rights and Equalities First Approach whenever they are making decisions, thinking about change or developing something new.”
