Student Placements for Organisations with Environment Projects

Our partners at the University of Glasgow would like to offer third sector organisations support with their ‘green’ projects. Could you benefit from free research and development support through a student placement? Perhaps your group is thinking about how to make the most of their green space, or you have an environmental idea on the back burner. Their students are looking to offer the capacity to move your ideas forward and offer valuable insight by the end of the summer. Environment and Sustainable Development Project

This programme matches MSc students with organisations who are looking for insights into important environment and sustainable development challenges. The students will work on placement with the organisation for 6-8 weeks in June/July, before delivering a final report and presentation of their work in late August.

Students taking part come from a large variety of academic backgrounds, with very diverse backgrounds demographically in general. They hold undergraduate degrees including Economics, Environmental Science, Accounting and Finance and Politics. Through the MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development students are exposed to rigorous training in economics around the issues of sustainability, environmental policy and development. The University is keen to hear proposals for a wide range of potential projects to match the extensive skills available.

How do I get involved?

If you have a project in mind that could benefit, please download and complete our short form which summarises:

  • The project’s aim and title (1-2 sentences)
  • An outline of the project (150 words max / 5 bullet points)
  • The project’s value to your organisation (2-3 sentences)

Please then email it to climate@gcvs.org.uk

What else do I need to know?

We ask that a mentor is appointed within your organisation who can commit at least 1 hour each week and provide guidance to the student. Being included in social activities that provide an opportunity to experience a work environment are also beneficial. On completion of the project, we would appreciate your completion of an evaluation form about your experience of the project.

The deadline to apply for this opportunity is January 31st, 2023.

Please complete the Project Proposal Form and email it to climate@gcvs.org.uk
