Self Management IMPACT Fund Report

The ALLIANCE has published a new report which captures the key learning and emerging themes from the first two years of the Self Management IMPACT Fund.

Since its introduction in 2013, the fund has supported 95 third sector organisations and partnerships to develop and strengthen approaches that support self management, allocating £6 million and reaching an estimated 21,442 people.

Building on the IMPACT: An interim report of the Self Management IMPACT Fund 2013-2015highlights some of the key learning from the fund in its first two years and identifies 7 themes which are emerging from the funded projects activities, including:

  • Improving access to local information and support
  • Developing partnerships and sharing learning
  • Utilising the power of personal experience
  • Promoting sustainability and skills
  • Supporting self management among young people
  • Supporting carers to self manage
  • Adapting effectively to changing circumstances

The report includes a number of case studies from:

  • Bobath Scotland
  • PBC Foundation
  • Breast Cancer Care
  • Scottish Spina Bifida Association
  • Evaluation Support Scotland
  • ALLIANCE Grants and Impact Officer

Introducing the report, ALLIANCE Chief Executive Ian Welsh said:

“The Self Management IMPACT Fund has been instrumental in leading the Self Management agenda in Scotland, demonstrating the value of lived experience, co-production and ‘doing things differently’ in health, social care and wellbeing partnerships. We are delighted to present these interim findings from the current allocation of funding, but realise there is much more work that needs to be done to transform health and social care in Scotland. For the ALLIANCE, and our members, self management is the key and we will be announcing further iterations of the Self Management Fund later this year to continue to support emerging ideas and innovative ways of working.”
