Treasurer (Trustee) Required

We are a small OSCR registered charity (SC031037) based in Glasgow with a community of like-minded people who want to help greyhounds and lurchers find their forever homes. We are a 100% volunteer-run charity, committed to creating a space where everyone is given opportunities to learn, gain valuable experience, and contribute their ideas in a safe and friendly environment.

The Role:

We are currently looking for a new treasurer to join our committee. Our treasurer manages our incoming and outgoing payments; provides monthly and annual reporting on our financial position and manages the relationship with our external accountants, ensuring that we meet our responsibilities and reporting deadlines as an OSCR registered charity.

We are looking for someone who has experience of bookkeeping in an accounting/finance role, and financial qualifications would be advantageous. The role requires competent IT skills and some experience with financial management software (we use Xero) and online business banking.

Our current treasurer has done an outstanding job of managing our finances efficiently, however career and family commitments mean that they need to take a step back from committee work. We will provide a full handover and answer any questions our new treasurer will have, and of course our existing committee will be happy to provide support and assistance.

Time commitment:

This role usually takes up 2-4 hours a week and a monthly online committee meeting (which is held outside of business hours).

Our committee is based in and around Glasgow and meet online once a month. As we’re all volunteers we work flexibly and largely remotely. Trustees are expected to attend our Annual General Meetings, which are held in Glasgow on a non-working day. We hold monthly sighthound walks and annual events in and around Glasgow that everyone is welcome to attend.
