Recruitment: General Manager, The Pollokshields Trust

We are recruiting a General Manager. The post is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

The Trust was established in 2017 by community vote to pursue five strategies for a better Pollokshields. This followed the MakeYourMark charrette in March 2016 which was endorsed by elected members at city council, Scottish Govt and MP level. Details are shown in the Job & Person Descriptions. A lack of core funding has limited our activities to establishment of Mark Makers Community Common. This  award will enable the Trust to address community-led strategic objectives.

The Trust is a community anchor organisation. We identify and recommend policies to the community. We do not manage individual projects long-term. Control will be devolved to existing or novel community organisations.

The post-holder will have to manage a complex set of relationships and agendas.  The public and voluntary sector share a strong desire to improve outcomes in Pollokshields but have different cultures and challenges.  Success in this post will be measured by the extent to which community-led priorities are recognised in future development planning.
