Salary: £14,560 pro rata

Hours: 21 hours per week


Various hours required, must be flexible and able to work weekends.

Temporary position to 31st March 2016.


Volunteer Co-ordinator


FASS is a Glasgow wide charity that supports families affected by a loved one’s alcohol or drug problems. We also provide support to approx. 23 affiliated Family Support and Kinship Groups in the Glasgow area. We are hoping to expand our volunteer base and plan to recruit a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in developing a volunteer programme within a charity context. The Volunteer Co-ordinator will be responsible for reviewing current volunteer policies, setting up a recruitment policy and improving induction pack, supporting existing volunteers with their training and development plans, recruiting a minimum of 14 new volunteers from various aftercare recovery groups throughout Glasgow, carrying out induction and training with these volunteers and regularly carrying out support and supervision at their aftercare recovery group location. The role will include liaison with other agencies, monitoring of service and writing reports. Training and development needs of volunteers will be looked at and a full training programme will be developed for new and existing volunteers. Volunteers will be sourced in partnership with Recovery Co-ordinators.

Provide monthly reports to Service Manager which will be passed to FASS Management Committee and FASS funders.

  1. Responsibilities
  • To review FASS’ volunteer policies and develop a recruitment policy.
  • To engage with existing FASS volunteers and produce for them a training and development plan.
  • To recruit a minimum of 14 new volunteers, from Aftercare Recovery Groups throughout Glasgow, with the main purpose of them being allocated an Aftercare Recovery Group that they will attend weekly and to be trained as a FASS volunteer to assist families attending the Aftercare Recovery Groups and to signpost to FASS and other services appropriate for the family members.
  • Empower and support volunteers to attend Aftercare Recovery Groups as a FASS representative on a regular basis.
  • Encourage new volunteers to attend regular FASS monthly members meeting to keep updated on FASS events and what is happening in other support groups.
  • To create and maintain a positive, supportive and achievement orientated attitude within the team as indicated by good timekeeping, low sickness rates and positive feedback from Aftercare recovery groups and volunteers.
  • To establish and maintain constructive joint working relationships, where appropriate, with other service providers with those involved in aftercare recovery.
  • To produce a robust training induction pack and training programme for new and existing volunteers, with a desire to enable self-development with future peer support and training.
  • To produce monthly reports detailing the requirements and work carried out with both existing and new volunteers.
  • To maintain a high standard of professional work by providing regular support and guidance to volunteers.
  • To continually review and develop volunteering roles, identifying best practice and disseminate it amongst volunteers.
  • To participate fully as a member of the FASS team and to contribute to the development of the organization.
  • Any other duties appropriate to this post in line with the needs of the Service.
