Join Us as Our Digital Specialist Trustee
Posted: 16th March 2026
We are a small but ambitious grassroots charity with a big heart and a growing impact. Based in Scotland, we support people of all ages to build confidence, develop new skills, explore their potential and create meaningful, self‑directed life pathways.
Our work is rooted in empowerment: helping individuals identify what matters to them, overcome challenges, and take the next steps toward a future they can genuinely believe in.
Since our founding, CYD has grown organically in response to the needs within our community. We support people facing a wide range of emotional, social, educational and practical barriers, offering compassionate, person‑centred support tailored to each individual. Our volunteers, trustees, partners and supporters all contribute to this work, and together we are building a trusted and valued presence locally.
As we move into an exciting new stage of development, strengthening our digital foundations has become essential. We are improving our systems, enhancing how we communicate, and exploring better ways to reach and support the people who need us most. This is where you come in.
We are looking for a warm, supportive and digitally confident Trustee to join our Board and help guide CYD through this next chapter. You don’t need to be a technical expert — what matters is confidence with digital tools, an interest in improving how our charity uses technology, and a willingness to share your knowledge in a clear, encouraging way.
As our Digital Trustee, you will help us shape and strengthen our digital systems, enhance our online presence, and ensure our technology supports safe, effective and accessible services. You will play a key role in helping us operate more efficiently, communicate more clearly, and reach more people — all while working alongside a dedicated, values‑driven team who care deeply about the individuals we support.
If you are passionate about digital inclusion, interested in strengthening a small charity with big aspirations, and excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference, we would love to hear from you. Please email your CV to the address below and a few short lines as to why you think you are a fit for CYD.
Digital Trustee Role Overview
Alongside your general duties as a Trustee, the Digital Trustee provides strategic leadership on how technology can support and strengthen Create Your Dream SCIO’s mission. Digital development is central to improving service delivery, modernising our operations, engaging more effectively with our community and supporters, and strengthening our long‑term sustainability.
You will maintain an overview of the charity’s digital systems, data practices and technology‑related risks and opportunities. This includes ensuring that appropriate digital tools, processes and safeguards are in place, and advising the Board on how technology can enhance service delivery, collaboration, security and organisational impact.
You will provide the Board with regular insight into CYD’s digital health and maturity, highlight emerging digital trends that may benefit the charity, and support long‑term planning around digital transformation.
By helping CYD use technology safely, effectively and creatively, the Digital Trustee enables the charity to reach more people, deliver services more efficiently, and maintain high‑quality, accessible support. Your expertise will strengthen our resilience, support our growth, and enhance our overall impact.
