Callie Rose Petal (lonely carp) is a multi-instrumentalist, experimental musician and conceptual artist based in Edinburgh. Utilising extended instrumental technique with operatic vocals and abrasive soundscapes, she attempts to crystallise the infinite complexity of a lived trans* experience by juxtaposing industrial noise with acoustic, neoclassical textures.

“I’ve always known I was meant to make weird things. Before I was even aware of my own queerness, I felt a pervading sense of being “Other”, which could only be translated through creative practice. The written word was my first form of expression, and to this day the construction of words underpins every art form I undertake. Composition is a way for me to create something from the destruction that once completely engulfed my life, and I now find myself so overwhelmingly grateful for the community that has been built around my art on Patreon – the truest heart of the home of my art, where I release early and exclusive material in the form of a vulnerable song journal.

I am always making something. It is how I’ve learned to survive.”
