Breaking Barriers: Roots & Resilience

Breaking Barriers: Roots & Resilience

Join us at Glasgow City Chambers on Friday 10 July 2026 for Breaking Barriers: Roots & Resilience.

A day bringing together community, voluntary and statutory partners around mental health, culture and belonging in Scotland’s South Asian and ethnically diverse communities.

Scottish Asian Counselling Services is hosting this free community event during South Asian Heritage Month, as part of the All In Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games programme, delivered in partnership with the Health and Social Care Partnership Team and made possible with funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

This event has been created to bring mental health conversations into the heart of our communities. For many South Asian and ethnic minority communities, emotional wellbeing can be shaped by culture, family, faith, identity, belonging and stigma. Breaking Barriers is about opening up these conversations in a safe, welcoming and culturally meaningful way.

With the theme of Unity in Diversity, the event will bring together communities, charities, local services, mental health professionals and members of the public to celebrate culture, connection, resilience and wellbeing.

The day includes:

  • Talks and contributions from community voices and practitioners
  • Exhibitor stalls from local organisations and services
  • Live music
  • Networking with partners across the third and statutory sectors
