Suitable for parents, carers and professionals.
Support Learning Assistant ” There were things I hadn’t thought of , little changes that have made all the difference to the meltdowns, they happen a lot less now. “
The emotional impact of challenging behaviours exhausts both the child and the adult. Thinking of challenging behaviours as distressed behaviour offer opportunities for support through recognising the behaviours, responding in an empathic manner and helping the child regulate.
Reflection points
- Recognising different types of distressed behaviours that can bring challenges.
- Why these emotional behaviours can arise and how to reduce the impact on everyday life.
