Architecture/Surveying Volunteer sought for Merchant City Park

Architecture/Surveying Volunteer Sought for Merchant City Park

Merchant City Park

We are a Community group based in the Merchant City, Glasgow. We are seeking to create a Community Park in the Merchant City on a piece of land, currently a Car Park, owned by Glasgow City Council. Our aim is to raise sufficient funds to purchase the land from GCC.

To achieve our aim we are raising awareness within the Community through social media, a website, leaflets and general marketing.

The land we have identified has twenty mature trees and currently hosts a world class mural. It is bounded by Candleriggs, Ingram St. and Albion st. and is 0.26 Hectares in size.

We are looking fo a volunteer who can advise the group on technical matters relating to the land. Specifically a financial valuation of the Land and advice on any drawings/plans which may arise in submitting bids for the land.

As a Community we are passionate about this project. We are acutely aware of the positive impact that a green space, trees, a meeting place, can have on a Community in an urban environment. We are also aware that if successful the park would be a legacy for future generations to enjoy, an oasis in the heart of the city.

If you feel you can contribute to the success of  project then please contact David Hughes at the email address given.
