Meeting Of Third Sector Organisations Working In Employability In Glasgow

Scottish and local government have a strategy for employability (“No One Left Behind”), a cornerstone of which is the transfer of resource and decision-making from central government to local councils.  As part of this approach every area is expected to have a Local Employability Partnership (LEP), which has a key role in ensuring that employability provision in the area meets local needs. There is an expectation that the LEPs should include third sector representation, and GCVS and our TSI partner GSEN have been invited to take a place on that group representing the third sector in the city.

We want the third sector’s contribution to be as clear as possible, we want third sector organisations to know what is happening and how they can get involved, and we want the experience and knowledge of third sector organisations to inform future priorities.  It is also likely that there will be future commissioning opportunities, and we want organisations to have opportunities to build connections and collaborations.

There is already a Providers’ Forum set up by Glasgow City Council.  We don’t want to duplicate that, but we do want to have a conversation about whether there is anything else we can do to help.

We are inviting all organisations with an interest in employability to join us for a discussion on Zoom, on Tuesday 28 September, 10 am – 12 noon
