HMP Glasgow Community Support Fund

Now Open to Support Local Communities

A new Community Support Fund is now open for applications, linked to the development of the Scottish Prison Service’s HMP Glasgow project. The fund aims to provide support for local charities, community groups, social enterprises and organisations working in communities surrounding the new prison site.

Kier Construction has been awarded the main contract to deliver HMP Glasgow, a modern custodial facility currently under construction on a 54-acre site in Provanmill. The project aims to create a safe, secure and sustainable environment that supports positive outcomes for people in the care of SPS, staff, visitors and the wider community.

Supporting Local Communities

As part of this wider commitment to social value and community wellbeing, the HMP Glasgow Project Community Support Fund has been established to help local organisations improve existing services, develop new opportunities and support initiatives that have a positive impact on children, communities and tackling poverty.

  • Barmulloch
  • Blackhill
  • Germiston
  • Petershill
  • Provanmill

  • Royston

  • Community Wish – offering smaller grants of up to £2,000, alongside in-kind support and volunteering assistance for local community needs.
  • Community Impact – offering grants of up to £15,000 for projects delivering longer-term community benefit and helping local people and communities to thrive.

Multi-year awards may also be considered where longer-term support is needed to strengthen positive outcomes locally.
