Help Shape the Future of GCVS – Join Our Board
10th December 2025

Author: Ian Bruce, Chief Executive
We believe change happens when people feel supported. GCVS works in partnership with Glasgow’s voluntary sector, offering guidance, experience and practical help to those making a positive impact. As we look ahead, we’re inviting passionate and experienced individuals to help guide our work by joining the GCVS Board.
We are recruiting for key positions:
- Chair of the Board – to succeed our current Chair, Martina Johnston-Gray, who will step down following our AGM in early 2026.
- Up to five elected Board members – nominated and voted for by our membership.
- One appointed Board member – bringing independence and additional expertise to strengthen our governance.
Our Articles of Association allow for up to eight elected Board members and four appointed members. This year, we have five elected vacancies due to retirements and career changes, alongside two appointed vacancies. One of these will be filled by the new Chair, and the Board may consider a second appointed Director to bring fresh perspectives.
Board roles are for a three-year term, offering an opportunity to influence strategy, champion the sector, and ensure GCVS continues to deliver for Glasgow’s communities.

Why Joining the Board Matters
Being part of the GCVS Board means playing a vital role in shaping the future of Glasgow’s third sector. Our Board members help set the strategic direction of GCVS, ensure strong governance, and advocate for the needs of charities, community groups, and social enterprises across the city. This is a chance to make a real difference – supporting collaboration, innovation, and equity for the people and communities we serve.
“Our Board is central to everything we do at GCVS. We’re looking for people who share our passion for strengthening Glasgow’s third sector and who bring skills, experience, and fresh ideas to the table. If you want to help shape the future of support for communities across the city, we’d love to hear from you.”
