GCVS Blog – CiS Finland Study Visit
28th March 2017

Director of External Affairs
From Sunday the 12th to Wednesday the 15th of March, I and around 29 other professionals from the children’s sector in Scotland went on a Children in Scotland Study Visit to Finland – to share practice as well as learn about education, society and life in Finland.
We visited a number of learning environments including preschools, primary schools and day care centres – there were a lot of major differences between how children are taught in the UK and Finland, and my companions were very eager to learn all they could. There was a great bunch of people on the visit who are really passionate about changing children’s support in Scotland for the better.
This worthwhile visit was a great experience both on a professional and personal level. There are a lot of ideas and concepts I have brought back with me, which I have shared with my Everyone’s Children project colleagues – I hope that GCVS can benefit from the knowledge I gained!
Children in Scotland have put together a great Storify documenting the visit to Finland, take a look at it here, or you can also find out more through #CiSFinland on Twitter.
