Free Funding Support for Environmental Projects

A Guide for Glasgow

Did you know you can get free funding support in Glasgow for your environmental project or climate-related work? Whether your plans are large or small, or have new or existing projects, we offer a range of resources, training and tailored support to help you secure the funding you need. The good news is this support won’t cost you a penny – it’s all fully funded through the Glasgow Climate Action Hub!

GCVS are proud partners in the Glasgow Climate Action Hub; working together to drive change and coordinate resources.

What types of project can get help?

Our priority is to encourage more people in Glasgow to get together and take action to reduce the impact of climate change in the city and improve our natural environment. There are many ways to do this, and we can support various projects and ideas. Here are just a few examples,

Projects that:

  • encourage more people to take part in active travel options like walking or cycling;
  • build new community gardens, new neighbourhood growing schemes or develop existing ones;
  • reduce the amount of food going to waste;
  • encourage more people to recycle, repair or reuse things
  • bring more people together to increase biodiversity in our city, or reclaim derelict, unused land

We especially want to support organisations not currently engaged in climate-related work but who would like to be.

What type of support?

We can help develop your team’s fundraising skills and enable you to secure the funding you need now for your project. We can also help to build your future financial sustainability. We offer free training, resources and tailored one-to-one support. For example,

  • Grant funding: We can help you search for potential grantmakers and support you through the application process.
  • Active fundraising: We can work with you to inspire new fundraising ideas to secure unrestricted funds and help you implement or develop various fundraising options.
  • Fundraising planning: We can help you look ahead and develop a diverse fundraising plan.

What type of groups are eligible?

We can support local community groups and clubs, voluntary organisations, registered charities and social enterprises operating in Glasgow City. You might be working throughout the city, or within a small community.

We’d expect that you already have a governing document, such as a written constitution or memorandum and articles of association, that clearly states your good cause or social purpose. Your group should also be run by a team of volunteers or by a Board of unpaid or mostly unpaid people. Your organisation should not distribute profits or assets for private benefit.

Our priority is to support smaller organisations, groups that don’t have access to professional fundraising expertise, and groups applying for grant funding for the first time.
