Delays to Glasgow Communities Fund Decisions Cause Concern for the Sector

GCVS has expressed concern about the delay in recommendations for the next phase of the Glasgow Communities Fund, issuing the following statement:
“Glasgow CVS has contacted senior Councillors at Glasgow City Council to express disappointment at the delay to decisions on the Glasgow Communities Fund which were due to be taken at the City Administration Committee this Thursday. We recognise there are pressures facing Glasgow City Council, but timely decision-making is essential to sustaining a strong, stable, and confident voluntary sector.
Delays make it harder for organisations to plan, retain staff, and continue delivering vital support to people and communities who rely on them. We have been assured that decisions should be taken at the next meeting of the City Administration Committee, on Thursday, 4th December 2025. It is important that the new timescale is kept to, and there are compassionate & prompt communications to applicant organisations to reduce unnecessary anxiety.”

About the Glasgow Communities Fund
The GCF exists to support community organisations, charities, and local groups working to reduce inequality, strengthen communities, and improve the wellbeing of Glasgow’s citizens. The fund is designed to help voluntary sector organisations deliver essential programmes – from community development and family support to mental health and financial inclusion.
Because many organisations rely on this funding to employ staff, run programmes, and plan ahead, clarity around funding timelines is critical.
Impact of the Delay
Delays and uncertainty place additional strain on organisations already working under challenging conditions. The voluntary sector plays a crucial role in supporting Glasgow’s communities. We urge the Council to ensure a clear and timely process so organisations can continue delivering the services people depend on.
