Announcing the Closure of GCVS SVQ Centre
29th July 2026
After more than 20 years of supporting learning and workforce development across Scotland’s third sector, the GCVS Board has taken the difficult decision to close the GCVS SVQ Centre following a review of its long-term financial sustainability.
Despite sustained efforts over many years to secure the Centre’s long-term financial sustainability, the challenges of operating as a small provider in an increasingly competitive marketplace have continued to grow. While significant work has been undertaken and the exploration of new opportunities, the Board ultimately concluded that the service could not be sustained financially in the longer term.
Supporting Learners Through the Transition
Importantly, this will be a phased closure rather than an immediate cessation of services. We remain fully committed to supporting our existing learners and organisational clients and will honour the commitments already made. Our priority is to ensure learners can complete their qualifications and continue to receive the high standard of support they expect from GCVS throughout the transition period.
Recognising the Centre’s Legacy and Impact
The Board would like to recognise the enormous contribution made by the team over the years. The Centre has helped countless individuals develop their skills, gain qualifications and progress in their careers, contributing to a stronger and more skilled third sector workforce. The positive impact of its work on individuals, organisations and communities has been significant and lasting.
We would like to sincerely thank our learners, clients, partners and stakeholders for their support over the past two decades and for the role they have played in the success of the GCVS SVQ Centre. As we move through this transition, we remain committed to working closely with those affected and ensuring an orderly and responsible closure of the service.
