The Glaswegian Way to Wellbeing Survey results

Thank you everyone who took time to complete our survey. We are just analysing the results however, there were some key themes which emerged around the additional resources or services people would like to see in Glasgow to better support wellbeing?

  • People stop littering and recognise its impact on mental health
  • Courtesy and kindness and how that increases feelings of safety also sense of respect and appreciation
  • Transport including sustainable travel and infrastructure for cycling
  • Free and accessible childcare and intergenerational spaces
  • Awareness of services and supports
  • Affordability of resources including better food
  • Access including places for young people to go , older adults who are isolated and more services for people where English is a second language and opening hours
  • Feelings of safety including lighting at night

We recognise the impact the environment can have on our wellbeing so already listening to what matters we have put together a booklet around littering and its impact and steps we can take to change this for everyone’s sake. The link is below. This may be a helpful resource to promote community conversations. Already amazing work is being done to help clean up the city, however, until people recognise a sense of personal responsibility and do not litter then it is hard to move forwards as rather than building on the great work happening, its going back in circles and picking up what others have disposed of by littering.

We felt courtesy and kindness followed naturally from this, so will release some ideas on that soon too. This is an amazing city full of amazing people and it matters we find ways to promote what is good and working well and build on that, we all only have so much energy so investing it where it is going to have the most impact matter for all our wellbeing.

Thanks for reading, feel free to get in touch. Next month is Mental Health Awareness Month so I shall be sharing a link to a slide-deck on ideas for mental health and wellbeing

Together we can build a kinder world for all of us
