Successful Applicants Being Confirmed for Year 5

Glasgow’s Partnership Group is in the final stages of making decisions for the latest round of applications to the Glasgow Wellbeing Fund. The group led by GCVS has already approved funding for smaller, unconstituted groups, as well as priority projects. We are pleased to support more projects from smaller groups this year, as local community activity has been a key priority, in line with the Scottish Government’s guidelines for this fund.

Final decisions will be made this week in relation to the Fairer Funding pilot, with projects being offered funding for 2 years, subject to confirmation in the Scottish Government budget. Additional funding, announced in January, will also provide 1-year one-off funding for some projects.

First Minister John Swinney recently announced an additional £3 million for the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for adults in Year 5. Of which, Glasgow will receive an extra £351,649.

We will make it clear in grant offers to all successful applicants whether the funding will be for 1 or 2 years.

Thank you to all projects that have applied to the latest round of the Glasgow Wellbeing Fund. We respectfully ask that you delay sharing information if you are offered a grant, to allow us time to contact all projects.

Feedback and Next Steps for Fairer Funding

Sheena Arthur, GCVS Head of Policy and Engagement, said:

“As in previous years, the standard of applications is high, even increasing again since last year. It is amazing to see the quality and variety of supports in place across the city, as well as the creativity in approaches to wellbeing. It is a privilege to distribute this fund, but also a heavy burden to not have enough funding to fulfil all good applications.”

We plan to hold a feedback session this year with unsuccessful projects to share some of our decision-making processes and offer further insight. Furthermore, we aim to use our learning to influence funding approaches across the city and with our Scottish Government colleagues.
