Developing Skills in Funding and Fundraising
North Glasgow Community Food Initiative

“Undoubtedly, we highly endorse and recommend your service. It would be a valuable asset for many organisations like ours with limited resources striving to make a meaningful difference.”
The North Glasgow Community Food Initiative currently works in three local urban communities: Springburn, Milton and Royston. Their aim is to empower individuals and communities to lead practical and sustainable food-related projects. This includes all aspects of healthy food, growing, purchasing produce, cooking skills, and more. They offer support through food hubs, community cafes, pantries, allotments and other activities.
At GCVS, we’ve enjoyed supporting the group over the past few years with their funding plans and applications to various grantmakers. Over this time, it’s been a pleasure to see the significant progress their team has made in developing their skills and capacity. It’s our aim to collaborate with voluntary sector organisations to promote their sustainability and provide training and support where needed.
Securing Plans for the Future
We’re passionate about supporting organisations with their long-term fundraising strategy, helping to equip them with the tools they need for sustainability. In fact, we can advise on a number of key areas and provide training to upskills teams and individuals. Groups in Glasgow can also take advantage of key one-to-one time with our funding advice officer through our surgery appointments.

Project Manager Leila told us:
“Firstly, I wanted to express my gratitude for your invaluable support with our funding applications… Your insights were immensely helpful in refining our submissions.
“Over the years, your support has significantly bolstered the quality of our grant applications in numerous ways:
Strengthening Content: Your service has been instrumental in honing the narrative and structure of our applications, enhancing our ability to write concise project descriptions and improving coherence.
Funding Success: As a direct outcome of your guidance, we’ve successfully secured funding from various sources, including key 3-year funding, which we attribute a substantial portion of this success to the knowledge gained from your training, advice and support.
Supportive Impact: Your service has not only supported our applications but has also empowered me, fostering increased confidence in navigating different grantmakers and refining my skills and technique in the grant application process.“
