Glasgow Helps Support Service

Glasgow Helps Support

Tel 0141 276 1185

The new Glasgow Helps support service, developed by Glasgow City Council and GCVS, grew from helpline support provided during the pandemic. It aims to connect Glasgow’s citizens with the right assistance, in the right place, at the right time.  We recognise that often it is difficult and confusing to understand the range of supports available in the city and we seek to navigate these alongside people.

Glasgow Helps uses council-held information to identify those who might be in need, and pro-actively contacts them to offer a service. The service also responds directly to incoming contacts / referrals direct from citizens or referral partners.

The service has holistic conversations with people to build relationships and trust, to create joint understanding of needs and aspirations.  This enables the service to identify, secure and case-manage agreed support pathways and referrals that, as well as providing immediate assistance, will work with people to build their resilience and facilitate their participation in the life of the city.

People can contact the service direct or be referred by partners, such as third sector organisations and can help with;

  • Food and utilities
  • Income maximisation
  • Employment
  • Mental Health
  • Physical health
  • Digital inclusion
  • Transport/mobility
  • Housing and homelessness
  • And many other issues

The service officers create care plans with people and refer them to appropriate partners. They stay in contact to ensure that their needs are met. If necessary, they will make additional referrals for longer term support.

You can contact Glasgow Helps by telephone on 0141 276 1185. They have translation services for people who have limited English and can call people back if they cant afford the phone call.

Glasgow Helps has produced a leaflet that can be given to families: Glasgow Helps Flyer

If you would like hard copies to hand out, please contact them with information on numbers and the address where you would like these to be delivered.
